The Honourable High Court of Mumbai yesterday granted an ad interim stay on the exhibition of the film Black Friday, produced by Mid-Day Multimedia Limited, which was to be released in theatres today.
This stay was granted on the writ petition of one of the accused in the bomb blasts case of 1993.
Arindam Mitra, producer of Black Friday, stated in response “We have made an objective film based on facts which have been in the public domain for three years. We stand by our work and believe that this is but a temporary delay in its release. Black Friday is an important film and an honest film. Every effort is being made in the courts to ensure its widest possible exhibition at the earliest.”
The high court has directed the producers of Black Friday to submit their response to the court by Saturday and will hear the matter on Thursday, February 3.
